SS Marine Hot Water Tank

Post by jlo »

The heating element is "cracked" and leaking water. I believe this stainless steel hot water tank is original to my F36/38. What replacement heating elements, if any, fit this hot water tank? If not and a new tank is needed, what currently available 6 gallon models fit the F36/38?

Thank you for the lead! I plan on pulling out the heating element this weekend to see exactly what is "cracked" according to the marina.

The heating element corrodes pretty easily. I thought my tank "leaked" only to find it was the heater element. A cheap and easy replacement. I hope you find the same!

How did you remove the existing tank? We're having the same issue and are having a hard time accessing the screws that hold the tank down. Any advice?

You don't have to remove the tank if it is just the element. My element just went (leaked around the seal) for the second time.

Just an added comment, my HW heater on my M28 was disconnected by the PO. I took it out and tested it in the shop, and found it was the thermostat sensor( I shut it down at 160 deg.f.) I found an exact replacement at Sure Marine Service in Seattle. good outfit.. also found a pressure switch for my Par fw pump at Fisheries Supply, also Seattle.
