I just banned two spammers and deleted the posts.
We might have to go to individual approval of new members.

I've noticed and have killed 3 accounts and posts over the past few days. I've now changed the account creation to require the user to have a valid e-mail address and to receive an e-mail that they need to use to active the account. Maybe that will cut down on this...We'll have to watch and see.

That's a good logical first step. I think we have signed up the bulk of the population from the yahoo group (s). Hardening up only as much as necessary is a good plan.

Let's see how the "valid e-mail" thing works.
In this world of "instant gratification", it would no doubt cause us to "not get" a few members here & there if they had to wait for "moderator approval"...even if it was near-instantaneous. (Not that those would be likely to become "valued, contributing members" anyway).
