Helo all,
I've just joined the group because I'm looking at a Freedom 40 CC to perhaps buy.
To date I have only see photos of the boat which is quite far from me - but I notice the support rings at deck level for the masts are different.
The forward (main) mast which passes though the deck up near the bow just seems to have a simple ring around the top of a grp (possibly wooden) plinth. This appears to be designed with a joint. Is that ok or should it be in one piece?
Main:
The aft (mizzen) mast has an alimuinium casting where the mast goes through the bridgedeck just aft of the companionway. This has a joint in it but looks more ragged - should it have a joint or should it also be in one piece?
Mizzen:
If there's a 40 cc owner out there who could put up pictures of theirs I'd be grateful.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Roger.

The ring around the mizzen mast is the original ring. It should be in one piece though. The main mast should have the same mast collar.
Happy sailing,

If there are any F40 CC owners out there I’d be glad to hear from you.
What do tgese rings actually do? I’m unfamiliar witg unstayed rigs.
Cheers,
Roger.
