Freedom 38: Wires banging on the inside of the mast

Post by artieTwelve »

Hello all,
I'm still figuring out the finer points of my new Freedom 38. One of the things I've noticed is a banging on the inside of the mast when the boat rocks. At first I thought it was loose halyards knocking around on the inside of the mast. Tightening them up did not help. Yesterday, I discover the small hole in the front of the mast collar, and took a look inside as best I could. There seems to be to black foam covered wires that are causing the problems. My guess is that one is the VHF antenna wire and the other is the electrical for the wind speed sensor and the mast head light.

Any thoughts on how to secure the wires without pulling the mast? I pushed a piece of wire in the hole and could stop it from moving at that point, but I could still hear it bang when the boat rocks, just higher up. Is it possible to pull them from the bottom of the mast? I wanted to get some feedback before I go down that road.

Thanks,
Lance Smith
