Replacing original F30 Anchor / Steaming / Nav lights with LED???

Post by Jarnold3001 »

Hello, Freedom friends! Can someone point me in the right direction for replacing the original anchor / steaming / running / nav lights on our 87 F30 with LED lights? Is it as simple as clipping old wires and re-connecting them to the new lights such as the Signal Mate products? Or does it get more complicated than that? Thanks.

Sorry to have missed this. Did you do the replacement?

I installed a "lunasea" tricolor on the masthead. Nav/anchor/Strobe. This can be accomplished with the original two wire set up and a couple of cheap diodes. You can independently control each function from your panel. If you receive AIS at the masthead VHF as I do be sure lunasea has dealt with the AIs interference issue.

I replaced the steaming light just above the jib/spin sheave "box" with a combo deck light and steaming light. Can't remember the make but they are pretty common online. Be sure to buy the line guard. If you don't you will wish you had.
