We need a new propeller on our 40/40 and would like to find out what others have put on and if you are happy or unhappy with your choice. We appreciate all opinions and advice.
Thank you!

Happy with our Maxprop. Better than some folding props for reversing, it’s been said. I’ve not seen data.

Re: Propeller for 40/40
I have a 3 blade MaxProp and am quite happy with it.
Based upon some research that I did a few years ago, I think that it's over sized as you don't want the the tips going supersonic. I posted about this a few years ago, but I'm on my way back from Guatemala after storing the boat for hurricane season, and don't have time to look it up.

Geoff, or anyone with a F40/40 and a Yanmar 3JH-TE, would you happen to know what the reduction gear ratio is on the transmission?

The Kanzaki KM3A has a ratio of 2.64
Re: Propeller for 40/40
If racing, a folding or feathering prop is the way to go. I like the thrust and durability of a fixed 3-blade (especially for cruising) and put a Campbell Sailor on my F35. https://westbynorth.com/campbell-sailer/
The downside of a Max Prop is all the moving parts, less forward thrust compared to a fixed blade and the fact that when feathered, there is a gap between the blades and hub which can catch seaweed, fishing line and the like.

I disagree with the comments from Mark K. Please see https://www.sailmagazine.com/diy/why-lo ... propellers this article in Sail magazine.
