double skin/sail

Post by hatuey »

double sails,

Hi, I'm going to set my sails for the first time on my Freedom 35 cat ketch, original sail system.
would any of you have a little drawing explaining how to put the sails around the masts?

My 30CK is rigged the same. This is how I fold the sails for rigging:

That is, roll each side separately to the middle. Stand the roll up in front of the mast, inside the wishbone, and then just unroll each side. When you discover you have the roll upside down or facing the wrong way, swear, and start again. ;)

Hardest bit is getting the wishbone to saddle strings done. Tie the sail bundle so the holes are accessible and tie the front wishbone-end close to the back mast. Backsail is less of a trial. Maybe do it first as a learning exercise. And not in a breeze.
