Jib boom issue

Post by balger »

Hello friends, I own a Freedom 30 and had the back stay on my jib replaced and now my jib boom isn’t fitting properly inside the sail. I think the jib boom is supposed to be rounded with the bow up (like a mountain), but mine is now bowed down (like a bowl). When sailing, the place where the back stay attaches to the boom is completely upside down. It looks like the boom is trying to spin around back into the pocket, but can’t.
It also appears that the attachment on the back of the boom is designed to spin a certain amount, but not as much as I need. The front of the boom does not appear to be able to spin, and probably doesn’t need to since it is not affected by the self tacking portion of the jib.
Has anyone seen this before and can you confirm that the jib boom is supposed to be concave upward? Any advice is appreciated.

I figured it out. Found an old photo of the jib. The rigger tied the new line to the wrong end.
