New Sails F-33 .. Suggestions for measurement

Post by Sailing-61-North »

I am in the works of purchasing a new main and mizzen. G10 configuration, White with Red Tuxedo package. 4 full battens, 2 reefs per sail, off shore reinforcement, Yada, Yada.

Tomorrow I am heading down to take measurements. Advice I am inquiring about:

1. Regarding the wishbone. Distance from deck to wishbone at mast & clew.
2. Distance the wishbone usually sits in front of the mast.
3. Distance the tack sits off the deck.
4. Distance the clew is from the end of the wishbone outhaul.
5. Distance the luff (G10) is from the mast.
6. What roach distance did you go with.

Sorry I was given a boat with shredded sails so trying to figure it out. Thanks

Something similar in color scheme but red instead of blue.

Here is the main location. I have the front at 8-ft height, 12-inches from the mast and the rear at 16-inches.

As for the mizzen. 7-ft off the deck, 12-inches forward and 4-ft of the stern traveler. Plans show the rear at 3-ft but I saw that as a head trauma device.

Looking good, I think I like the white/red combo.

That is what we decided to go with. Still in design phase right now.

Still giving thought about either having a fixed outhaul and just moving the wishbone via the chocker or not?

I also haven't figured out if I want to use the forward upper block to raise the wishbone or the one that is located about 1/3 of the way up the mast on the aft aspect. I was considering removing the latter to ensure it does not interfere with the lacing of the sail to the mast.

This boat came with ripped sails and no running rigging so I get to figure some of it out. I do have the rigging manual but since I am changing the sail to a single ply G-10 adaptation I will have to do some adjustments.
