Reef lines on CC45

Post by Jason »

When we bought our boat recently both the reef lines in boom got chewed up by rodents. There is a double block in the boom and I was wondering if anyone has a diagram for reef line configuration. Thanks in advance

For the outhaul reefing line ONLY I replaced my 5/16 Sta-Set with 1/4" Dyneema. Since the Dyneema is stronger you can use a smaller diameter and it is a bit slippery. Trying to tuck in and shake out a reef with the Sta-Set didn't work very well because there was so much friction. It now works very smoothly after I switched to Dyneema. Just don't use it for both parts of the reef line (the line that goes to the winch) since there isn't enough stretch to allow the boom to move around.
I have a 35' Freedom so It may use different diameter lines but the system should be the same. Also if you had critters inside the boom they may have left nesting material inside it which will need to be cleaned out (voice of experience)!

The mast was full from one end to another and packed solid. We took along time removing all the stuff.

Will this be the same for my 40 AC CK? I've been trying to figure it out since I bought her in September. The previous owner used her for a party barge and, from what I can tell never sailed her. I need to replace most of the lines and many of the blocks. Does anyone out there have a complete rigging diagram and/or a list of blocks and lines for the cat ketches?

Thanks,
