HULL ID

Post by Zengirl2 »

I'm at a loss.. under the floorboard in the v-berth next the mast is a big board with the this on it "NO 689392". what does that mean. My boat is 1985 Freedom Hoyt. Is that just the USCG ID? Can you tell me if this is my hin # TSP 32079M85B and what does all that mean? Thank you so much.

The 689392 number is your USCG Documentation number and has to be affixed to the interior hull. Mine is in the anchor locker in the forward berth. You should also have a USCG Documentation Certificate (from previous owner that transfers ownership). The Documentation Certificate gets renewed every year (or you can get a multi-year). The TSP... number is your Hull ID Number. It should be able to find it etched into the transom (starboard side, towards top). TSP is the manufacturer - Tillotson Pearson, 32 is the model (32'), 079 is the serial number for your boat (79th 32' built), M85 is the Model Year (1985), and B is the month built (Aug 16 - Sept 15). Hope this helps.

My USCG board is under the floor boards in the v-berth. And my renewals for USCG are all up to date. Thank you for your response, it was perfect!

John
Thanks for the clear explanation. Help me with the month part though.
I have 32067A585. I assumed 585 was May 1985 but since your 1984 hull was just two earlier than mine,
does the “A” designate January? What’s the “5”?

Dale, the USCG sequence changed a little bit in 1985. Your number: 32067A585 equates to: 32 is Model (32'), 067 is the hull # (#67th boat that year), the rest deals with the manufacture date - A = January and 5 = 1985, the last numbers - 85 = the model year 1985. The Freedom manual outlines the old and newer versions of numbering.

Hi.

Did they have the same Hull ID system for boats built in the UK?
I've not found mine, but will look next time I'm on board - though thought it worth checking what I would be looking for... :D

Many thanks
Giles

Stamped into gelcoat on transom. Not very obvious - need to look quite hard...!

Hi there,

I just bought Saorsa, a 1988 F33 UK with an alloy mast and I can't find the HIN. I could not find it on the transom.
Where is it located on your F33? Would you have a copy of the original builder's certificate? It's been lost after the first owner passed away.
